As a person both interested in bird photography and astronomy I was interested to come across a reference recently to a Canon D20a. This is a D20 modified for astrophotography. Has anyone used this model?

I've not seen any references to it in the photography stores advertising in the UK.

There is an article on this camera in the latest (December 2005) EOS Magazine. I think this may be accessible on line. This article describes the main differences between the 20Da and the 20D, one is that there is a slight difference in the red sensitivity to help photographing diffuse red nebulae and solar flares.

If memory serves me right...

the main differences are that there is an internal filter removed (to improve the red sensitivity mentioned above), but this means for terrestrial photography you need to add filters to all lenses. The other big thing was that you can use the screen as a view finder (I think it's the only dslr that does this) when using mirror lock up mode.
