Got an old pair of porro 7x35 'Ranger Deluxe' binos that has stamped on it 'extra wide view, 11 degrees, 578 feet at 1000 yards'. Not a stunning view through these binos, but it does show a wide vista! Any other porros that show that wide a view, or wider? Just curious, don't see anything new that seems to be wider than 480' in porros or roofs.

In terms of a high quality image the widest ones I am aware of are the Nikon 8x30 EIIs at around 8.8 degrees. I think the inexpensive Nikon Action are around 9.2 degrees if memory serves me but I cannot think of any wider...
...maybe the Bushnell "Xtra Wide" series? I know there is a wide field of view with those but they are very distorted around a good percentage of the field of view.

Audubon Raptor 8x42 at 430ft./1000 yds.
Anybody rate these yet?
Nikon Binoculars Action EX Extreme 7x35
489 ft./1000 yds
There may be others at 7x. Why is there no 7x40?

Tero,
If you can stand Individual Focus you can still get "Checkpoint Charlie" 7 x 40 military binoculars from Deutsche Optik in Yerington, Nevada. www.DeutscheOptik.com. They come with a reticle which you can remove if you are handy and they have a 148 meter FOV. They are reconditioned and cost $399.00. A friend of mine has a couple of them. They aren't too bad. They have huge porro prisms, oversize oculars and a yellow caste to their view. They are rather heavy.

Look at these examples, I have cutted the adresses to prevent destroying the width of the page:

Or even worse, likely the widest ever existing AFOV:

Swede, it will actually shorten the link automatically, you don't need to.
I think I can live with 400ft at 1000 yds for FOV. For roof prisms, maybe 350ft is all I can hope to get.

350' is definately not the top end FOV for roof prisms.
in 7x
Bushnell Discoverer - 420'
in 8x
Cabela's Alaskan Guide - 368'
Leupold Gold Ring - 380'
Bushnell Elite - 372'
Nikon Premier LXL - 366'
Zeiss Victory FL - 405'
Leica Ultravid - 388'
Swarovski EL - 390'
Leica Geovid - 373'

O.k. well you've got me here. I don't know of a 10x with a FOV that even reaches 350'. The closest I am aware of is the Bushnell Discoverer which offers 341'. Everything else seems to range from 262' (Leupold Olympic) to 331' (Leica Geovid)

In 10x the Nikon EII (porro) gives a FOV of 366'.
The Nikon HG/LX (roof) in 10x32 gives a FOV of 340'.
The Nikon HG/LX (roof) in 8x32 gives a FOV of 408'.
Personally I love wide FOV. The more I get the happier I am, assuming it's usable.

lucznik, I hadn't researched it. I was thinking of my preferences, which are 8.5x or 10x for roof prism.
Here is a Leica with over 400ft
