Did a longish loop around the Emirates yesterday. Al Ain first for over wintering Eversmanns redstart, ring ouzel, mistle thrush and mourning wheatear (also Humes, hooded, Isabelline, desert wheats), sand partridge, plain leaf warbler, desert warbler, desert lesser whitethroat, house bunting, up to 3 Bonellis eagles, honey buzzard, egyptian vultures and nesting barbary falcons.
Then Abu Dhabi for a gruelling grill of the hirundine flock which probably held more than we found...pallid swift, barn swallow, sand martin, pale crag martin, pale martin, wire tailed swallow, red rumped swallow....plus black kite, half a dozen marsh harriers and a great spotted eagle.
