Had a good day in the Colchester area today.
Waxwings in the Asda car park in Colchester kicked things off.
Around 10-12 Hawfinches at Great Braxted, showing well at times. I had never been to the site before but it looks really good.
Drake Smew at Abberton (but no RN Grebe).
Then Colne Point yielded a Snow Bunting and among the Brents a Black Brant and a Pale-bellied Brent. This was my first PB Brent in Essex: they appear to be rarer than Black Brant in this part of the world.
Good weather and a good mix of winter bird. Nice.
