Does anyone know if the Hoodman HPG-D70 Powergrip battery/vertical shutter is available on this side of the pond yet, and if not does anyone on the US side of the pond have any experience/comments regrading this product ?

Cheers,

Hi

Have you seen the new Hahnel power grip? See

Thinking of similar one for my D50, allows use of AA batteries if all else fails.

Looks pretty good but I don't think it has a vertical button ? The Hoodman allows this by using a infra-red connector from the 'grip' to the sensor on the camera.

I use a vertical grip bought off of ebay. It has a vertical shutter release that uses a fibre optic cable to fire the shutter using the remote release sensor built into the camera. I bought it to use mainly with my Sigma 80-400os which eats batterys. Since using it i have not had to recharge yet . Have used mainly with 500mm prime as the girlfriend still monopolises the 80-400!!!
Do a search on ebay for a d70 battery grip, cost about £50 + you need an extra battery. It can also run off AA's if required.

That sounds good Rob, thanks for that. The Hoodman is similar but I would imagine it is more expensive, though I believe batteries are included, or are built in ?

I could order one from the states but would be stung on import duty.
