[Hello to all Birdforum members. I'm a keen birdwatcher and occasional twitcher. At the moment I'm hoping to start digiscoping. I have a Zeiss 65mm scope and would be greatful for any advice as to a good camera to go for.

Hi Carol,
I find the Canon Powershot A95 is an admirable instrument for digiscoping. It is now out of production but the refurbished cameras available from the Canon outlet shop on eBay are an excellent buy and come with a 12 month guarantee and the winning bids are usually under £150. This was the source of my camera and it was as new when received. You will probably need to get some sort of connection device to mount it on your scope and these can be quite expensive unless you can fashion your own or get someone to do it for you.
One word of warning be prepared to take lots of duff shots it is not nearly as easy as it seems on the face of it. When you do succeed in getting a good shot though it is really worth the effort. I found that ducks make quite good first subjects as they do'nt flit around too much. Bird tables are good too as you can get a variety of subjects arriving into your prefocused scope.
Good luck and welcome,
Pete Leicester
