We're going to Northumberland in August near the Farne Islands etc and i was wondering if the birds will still be around in august as i know their breeding will be at an end. When do they migrate away?

thanks

Will be quite at the Farnes by then as most of the seabirds will be back to sea.

However many of the coastal reserves will have good numbers of Terns, and seawatching can produce Skuas, Shearwaters, Petrels on good days.

Also migration can produce interesting falls with Wrynecks, Red back Shrikes always a potential.

Keep an eye on the Birding Northumberland thread as its a good pointer as to what is around.

We are very friendly bunch up here and if you post a thread a bit nearer the time, you will get plenty info.

There is plenty too Northumberland to enjoy as well as birds, and if you have other interests just ask and you will get loads of advice .

Hope you enjoy your visit.
