I'm waiting for D200 - Nikon seems to have problems delivering them - at least here in the middle east... But to the actual question: Nikon MC-35 GPS Adapter Cord is a very bulky thing and has this very old fashioned connector that is supposed to be connected to the GPS unit. My GPS is Garmin GPSmap 76CS and its connectors do not naturally match the Nikon unit. How to connect and how do it elegantly without multiple cables and bulky connectors. Any third party suppliers for a simple solution. Ideas?
I might even consider getting a small no frills GPS receiver (like Globalsat), if it can be neatly connected to the D200 and dedicate it for photo purposes and leave my garmin unit aside. Ideally a bluetooth solution would propably be best as the gps receiver would be in my pocket and not adding weight to the camera...

Excuse my ignorance, but why does one need a GPS unit connected to a camera?

I've heard that Nikon geared up its production capacity of the D200 from 60,000 pcs per month to 80,000 and hope to supply all needs by April. I was just lucky to get mine. The starved D100 Nikonians are grabbing this camera straight hot from the oven...and they are absolutely right to do so. It's great - and is worth the wait. Let's see what new camera will Canon announce next week...
GPS will allow you to record global time and position on earth of each shot you take for your records. I've seen this clutter of cables and I didn't like it.

Had finally time to connect the necessary cables. As shown in the attached pics it looks and is a mess - but it works.
First is the Nikon MC-35 GPS cable, then 9-pin female end of a used RS-232 cable cut in the middle and finally the Garmin serial/power cable with open cable ends.
Connections made: Garmin serial out to pin 2 and serial in to pin 3 + ground to pin 5.
The first picture shows the connectors needed, Nikon 10-pin connector and the bigger Garmin serial/power connector. I'm yet to open the Nikon D-connector end to see how the pins are connected as I would like to have a neat solution to this: a short cable using nothing but the Nikon 10-pin connector and the Garmin 4-pin connector. I've not been able to find a pin out diagram for the MC-35.
