Hi all, Can the Nikon D50 take a 2gb and up SD card? I use a 1gb card at the moment, but it does not say in the instruction book up to what size it will take, cheers, Bert

It should take any size, as long as it is a standard SD card.

All camera's can use up to 2 gb which is the limit of fat 16 and if it has fat 32 as the file system it can take anything. If you buy a 2 gb card you should be fine and I don't believe that there are any 4gb SD cards out anyway.

I heard about an 8gb CF card once. That was about 2 years ago though. There are probably bigger ones out now.

Hi, If you go to nikon's uk website they tell you that the D50 can take a maximum of 2GB SD card only and if you use anything higher, you will still only be able to get 2GB from it. I hope this is of some help to you? They also recommend only panasonic or sandisk SD cards. I hope you don't mind me asking a question on your thread, but can D50 users tell us what cards they use as I find the cards mentioned by nikon are much more expensive and I was wondering if cheaper cars were compatible??? All suggestions most welcome.

A word of warning......Cards can become corrupted, so it is better to have four 512mb cards than one 2gb card. That way you do not have all your eggs in one basket. If one corrupts, you still have three to play with. I myself only use cards that can hold about 100 images (RAW) & find this plenty for a normal days shooting.
Regards Rob.
