cp880 Can I Digiscope?

Interested in Digiscoping but in the early process of collecting information. This forum is a great souce of information.

I see references to 990's and up but wonder if I can use an 880.

Tech data: Lens is 2.5 Zoom-Nikkor and zooms up to 4x.
Nikon offers TC-E2 and TC-E3 converters as well as a UR-E2 step down ring lens adapter. (Hope this is helpful; just reading from the manual.)

I'ver attached a pix.

I read the info at Photsource and also find they refer to cp's models higher than 880.

If anybody can tell me whether I can use the 880 for dgiscoping would appreciate it.

Yes you can :-) Just get the UR-E2 add-on lens adapter (cheap) then you can fit a standard digiscoping adapter to the camera to attach it to the scope.
You may get vignetting with this model as it's only got a 2.5x zoom lens, though you should get a vignette-free image with many eyepieces when you're at 2.5x.

As Andy has said yes you can. All the photos in my gallery and on my website are taken with a CP880 and also the photo of Saturn on the left here. It is also an excellent camera for close up shots of butterflies, flowers etc. I use mine with a Swarovski 80 HD and I also use the TC-E3 ED teleconvertor.

Warning: It is excellent but I am still planning to upgrade to a CP4500 soon.
