View Full Version : Loud Shutter on a D2X

Anyone know how to tone down the shutter of a D2X? The sound has more than once scared of my subjects.

I have investigated sound-deadening enclosers called 'blimps' as used on movie sets but they are expensive and appear combersome. See attached picture of this device.

But really I would like to know if the camera itself can be modified to be quieter. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

You can use MLU (mirror lock up). It will break the noise into smaller interferences (mirror up, shutter open, shutter close, mirror down).

Sorry I can't offer any advice on this, I'm just pleased someone else has noticed as it's a problem I've had as well. Maybe it would be worth mentioning it to Nikon. You watch, if we did they'd just suggest you buy a longer lens, from them of course!
