I have the above equipment. I keep reading about coolpix's being some of the best cameras for digiscoping. Is the D70 not so good? I dont particularly want to shell out on another camera? Can anyone help me? What would you suggest?

The D70 being a DSLR is not so good for digiscoping for several reasons. No internal zoom, excessive vignetting, dark viewfinder when attached to scope .......
Really you need a small comapct digital camera with an optical zoom of 2-4x and capable of taking an adaptor to mount filters or teleconverter lenses so that it can be mounted on the scope.
The Nikon Coolpixes such as the CP990, CP4300 and especially the CP4500 were the favoured digiscoping cameras for many years as the small diameter lens, two-part rotatable body, internal zoom and up to 4 MP was almost perfect for digiscoping.
They've all been discontinued now, though in the UK you can still get hold of the CP4500 which is still likely the most widely used camera for digiscoping.
The Canon A95, Olympus C7070, Contax SL300RT, Kyocera 400 and many more have since come and gone but all have been been decent for digiscoping.
Check out the Digiscoping Forum for more ideas of current models used for digiscoping.

Alternatively, you can get yourself a good telephoto or zoom lens for that quality camera of yours and join the ranks of DSLR users.

Thanks for your advice Ian. I will certainly take it on board and maybe consider the CP4500. Thanks again .
