Here on the shores of Lake Erie, it is still winter but I found some open water and a few ducks on which to practice with the new camera and a just-arrived 70-300mm zoom. The last SLR I had was a Pentax K-body, completely manual so I can't say enough about how easy and straightforward the D50 is. Love it.

Small open water, large flock of mixed ducks including several hundred canvasbacks, bluebills, bufflehead, goldeneye, mallards, and some miscellaneous Canadian geese.

Seagull, bluebills coming in for a landing, canvasback flock -
One shot of the beachline and our ice dunes - we know spring is on the way but we rely on the calender because it still looks cold...

Sam - yes, it is. If you are familiar with the area, the birds were on the bay, over near the park station. The ice dunes were lakeside, about Beach 8.

Nice photos. I have to agree about the D50. I've used various Canons [D30, 300D, 10D] and a D70, but the D50 is such a straightforward, easy to use camera - and just the right size and weight - that it's been my favourite - until they come up with a budget 10mp!

I have just bought a D50 as a back up body while my D100 is being repaired, the spring clips that hold the screen in place sprung out & the screen & a rubber gasket dropped on the carpet & got covered in dust( extended guarentee luckily ) Anyway i think the D50 is taking better shots none of D100s underexposed pics & it also focuses better too, i will probably use the D50 more now and sell the D100 when it comes back and buy a D200 as my main camera.
