Hello everyone. My name is Kristin. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. I enjoy wild bird watching as well as keeping my African Grey, Goffin's cockatoo and Umbrella cockatoo!
The highlight of my birdwatching was seeing the Yellow Grosbeak right here in ABQ! It has been spotted in the United States only a handfull of times and only then in Arizona. Quite a joy!

I'd been debating whether to make the drive to see your YEGR, but with all the speculation about it being an escapee (on the AZ-NM birding listserv), decided I'd wait. Still, what a gorgeous bird!

Look forward to hearing about all the other wild birds you see there. :t: Can't believe the wonderful diversity there at the Rio Grande Nature Center (I think that's its name -- just northwest of the city?). What a fantastic place.

Katy, you know it is funny...the escapee vs. accidental thing. Either way, it is a gorgeous bird that has found a way to survive. I still think it is worth seeing and/or photographing. BTW, what is the AZ-NM Birding listserv? Should I follow it?
The Rio Grande Nature Center is a nice place to visit. It is located in the NW part of the city. Albuquerque has such diversity in our topography and landscape that it might be a great place for you to come visit if not for a weekend. Further south there is the Bosque del Apache and other nice birding places. We have the Sandia Mountains too. Love to see you come experience our city.

Welcome, I'm new here too and live just north of Santa Fe. I was debating getting down to see the yellow grosbeak, but never got around to it. It was quite the hot topic around here. See ya! Chuck...
