Do people count bridled guillemot as an extra 'tick'?
Is it a different species?
I went out the Farne islands, and hunted around the thousands of guillemots, I eventually found one and was so pleased to have picked it out I would obviously like to count it, but if people don't than I won't.
Thanks for your thoughts,
Ben

As far as I am aware they are the same species not even a sub species of one another (although I could well be wrong on this), but either way personally I don't count them.

I don't count them as a separate species but I do make note in m Bird Log databae as to when and where seen. saw one on the Up North Bash to Bempton Cliffs in May - located by one of the wardens though.

The bird in question had green marks on its breast, I assumed this was just algae.

Hi boznia
I would agree with Ashley, Ian and Malky - and so to answer your question, I wouldn't count them as a "tick", as they are not a subspecies, but they are certainly noteworthy, and I always make a note if I come across any.
As for the green marks, I coudn't say for sure, but your explaination sounds reasonable enough!
