We moved into our new log home 6 weeks back. We have about nine feeders out with many types of seeds, but have yet to attract alot of birds. At out old farm house in Canaan,NH we were always swamped with birds of all types. At our seasonal trailer in a campground,we also get many birds, yet here,at our log home( in NH), it's not so easy. We do have a pair of Chickadees, some Juncos ground feeding, but not much else. We hear many many birds signing, and see alot in our field, but our feeders do not seem to attract them. Any ideas? We have food ,water & cover. Our do we just wait and they will become comfortable with us here?
Thanks,Bill

Hi Bill and welcome to BF, I've moved your Post here so you might gain some better answers :t:
I'd guess that your local species just haven't 'found' your feeders yet, maybe there's currently more natural food available - time will tell, I guess. How about a planting of locally native feed plants and flowers to help pull them in?
Cheers,
Andy.

On top of your feeders being new to the birds in your area, it's also the time of year when insect populations are burgeoning again. I've noticed a decline in feeder use by the songbirds here since the weather's warmed up, and usage stays low until chicks are hatched and the busy adults need an easy feed. I'm sure a little more patience will see your feed bill start to soar. ;)

yes patience. it took three years for us to get anything but sparrows when we first set up a feeder. over the years we are to 4 feeders, plus cakes. plus ground feeder, plus nut feeder and im going broke! i love sitting in my yard these early morns and eves and i see always 10-15 diff species of birds.
