hi, just got a d70s with the 18-100 and 70-300 nikon af lens, i would like a longer lens like a tameron 200-500 or similar to get those extra few metres . i need to know which lens and a few suggestions on where to look as they seem to vary greatly in price second hand would be ideal . total beginer so any help would be great . feel awful as always seem to be asking for help. thanks ashley. :t:

Hi shrek, I upgraded from the nikon 70-300G to the Tamron 200-500 & it made the world of difference. Not only is the extra reach the difference between taking a picture of a bush with a bird in it, and taking a picture of a bird that's in a bush, but the Tamron is also SO much sharper that the Nikon (maybe I had a duff Nikon though?).

So yeah, I heartily recommend the Tamron. It's not a 600mm Nikon prime, but its good enough for me.

Can't help you with shops & the like, as I got mine in the US.

thanks gloygum , been looking on ebay and new and to be honest i can get one for £669 new and there fetching £460 s/h so might go for new. thanks again ash. 3:-)

Woah, it is a scandal what they charge for things in the UK. My Tamron was about the same in US dollars as yours is in GB pounds. Nothing you can do about that though.
