I'm afraid the simple answer is a no for digiscoping, any of the Canon compacts with more than a 3x lens will give endless trouble with vignetting unless you want to handhold the camera to the scopes' eyepiece, which is not the easiest way to go about it. As general use cameras they're one of the best.
The last good digiscoping camera they made was the A95, still a good bet if you can find one.

I have just obtained a Canon A610, nice camera but like they say vignetting is a pain, I am seriously wondering if I would have done better to get a Fugi F11.

A word of warning to anyone thinking of buying a Canon for digiscoping. I have been researching cameras to go with my Swarovski ATS 80 and decided on the A95 after reading many favourable reports. I obtained one via a seller on Amazon – and within an hour of starting it up it had malfunctioned with the lens fully zoomed and refusing to retract. Each time I attempted to start the camera it displayed a black LCD screen with "E18" in the bottom lefthand corner.
I subsequently discovered, via Google, that this a fault which plagues Canon cameras. It is so common that there is even an entire website devoted to it. Apparently, though, Canon refuses to acknowledge that such a problem exists.
In all my researches I never encountered any reference to this "E18" error. My experience has certainly put me off Canon cameras for digiscoping. Just thought I would share my experience so that anyone considering a Canon could check out this potential problem for themselves.
Meanwhile, I'm now back to square one in my search for a camera. Any suggestions?

As I responded elsewhere: I was advised by one of the expert Retailers in the Netherlands (Foto Rooijmans in Budel) to look at the Fujifilm FinepixE900.
Price varies on the internet between 299 and 350 (or even more, but I would consider that a not acceptable premiumprice).
