Hello friends,

Last weekend my old Coolpix 4500 died after lots of birding days with me. I'm going to ask if it is possible to repair it, but the knock was important and now I can't even switch it on. R.I.P.

As I can't find this camera now, I would like to know three or four cameras to look and decide. When I bought the 4500 it looks like the favorite one for a lot of digiscopers, but I can't find now a "real favorite one".

It would be great if I can still use some of the things I use for the 4500; I have a Swarovsky adapter for my scope and several CompactFlash cards. Also a 3X Nikon objetive.

Thanks a lot.

Hola Jesús,

I don't know the Coolpix 4500, but on my search for a good digiscoping camera I was advised to look at the Fuji Finepix E900. Accoring to digiscoping specialist Foto Rooijmans in the Netherlands this is the best camera for digiscoping. Price varies on the internet between euro 299 and euro 350.

The 4500 is still available,at least in the UK.I suggest you traverse the internet cam sites, and you will be able to find a replacement.

I think Warehouse Express may still have some 4500's. Not sure if they deliver abroad though.
