I joined this morning because I have seen a bird this morning that I have never seen in my back yard before.
I live in Brentwood TN a suburb of Nashville.
The bird was hanging out at the feeder with other common house finches. It was grey, I suppose female. The surprise was when it turned around it had white fluffy eye brows just on the inside of each eye, in other words it didn't go all the way across the top of the eye. I have tried looking it up in 7 books but can not find it. Is it by some chance a baby that has not lost all of it's down?
I have a back yard that birds seem to love. I have counted over 30 sitting in a tree all at one time, many different kinds. Even my blue jays get along with everyone. Unfortunatly I have never had many surprises, just the more common flitters.
