Hi

Anybody bought or had a trial of this lens? Didn't get a good review from Ken Rockwell but I would like to hear from anybody who has some feedback.

Cheers

Many thanks, look forward to seeing the results

Any "Macro" people "over the pond" tried it out yet?

Cheers

Hello Stuart,
I have not used it myself, but I heard about the TIPA awards this year.
Maybe Ken Rockwell does not like it, but there are some people who think differently.
The lens was awarded best professional lens 2006, so it cannot be too bad...
Here is the link to the TIPA website: http://www.tipa.com/awa_detail_2006.lasso?-Search=Action&-Table=web&-Database=awards_2006&-KeyValue=84

Good luck,
Mattijs

Heavier and bigger than the old 105 and has lightening speed AFS like the long Nikon lenses. VR works fine. The lens shows traces of CA wide open, and is razor sharp.
I'll test it fully in next couple of days.
I've discovered that it works fine with the Nikon TCs, creating a 150mm /4 lens with the TC-14E, a 180mm/4.8 lens with the TC-17E etc. This was a surprise to me. With a TC it reports properly the real aperture and focal length!
Here are some samples of the colors, bokeh, a backlight shot with the sun in the frame and sharpness (100% crops in the pictures).
On the face of it, a fine optical masterpiece.

Looks good, and the fact that I have a Nikon 1.7 TC is kind of pushing me to get one. Big problem appears to be supply - stock in the UK appears to be very low. Look forward to seeing more images and if you can get some shots of insects or butterflies, that would be a bonus!

Cheers

One insect, one flower with a 100% crop included. A very very sharp and fast lens. I guess that Mr. Rockwell had pre-production samples in his hands. There are no signs of the symptoms he reported.

Many thanks for these, Yossi. Now all I need to do is find one. Thanks again.
