I'm about to buy a nikon D50 and according to nikon's website, they recommend only sandisk or panasonic SD cards, but they seem quite expensive? Can any D50 users tell me which brands of cards they use please and rough prices too if possible? (I'd rather spend my cash on better lenses!)

Checkout cards on Warehouse express - i have several different brands but usually use my integral i-Pro 2GB CF. It was pretty cheap, but i have never had any problems with it.

My 2C - don't gamble on a cheap card. Get the Sandisk.
Loosing all the pictures of a trip due to a cheap card will hurt more than the extra expense. It happened to my friends more than once.

Cheap cards are just fine for the D50.. I use 4 1GB Ridata 66x SD cards that I bought for $30 each.. work like a charm and are quite fast even in raw full burst mode. I also have a transcend 80x which is highly recommend that I paid $45 for... don't worry about the ultra II/III blah blah.. we're talking 1/2 MS differences here. Now, if you were shooting with a D2x and 8GB cards.. different story. Good Luck!

Transcend are one of the largest manufacturers. I use both their compact flash and SD cards. Never had any problems. See www.orca.co.uk or look at their own web site. For a comparison see www.robgalbraith.com
