Leica C-Lux 1 for digiscoping

My wife needed a small digicam so I persuaded her to get the new Leica C-Lux 1 (6 megs ). It doesn't have a full feature set for digsicoping but with Image Stabilising should be able to be hand-held. I tested it out on my Swarovski bins (EL 8.5 x 42 ) yesterday and was happy with the results. Here are a couple of photos taken at wide angle on the camera (28 mm ) with some vingetting and at almost full zoom (100 mm ). There is no dedicated adapter for it but it will work on one of the universal adapters, like the Scopetronix EZ Pix 11 as I tested it today. It also has a special feature for high speed shooting up to 800/1600 iso and Continuous Shooting Mode.

Many thanks for the information. I am planning to get the corresponding Panasonic FX01 and I would be very interested to hear about your experiences on OIS when used with the scope & adapter - is it helpful in practice? I tried the earlier Pana FX9 in a store and found the large & sharp display really useful when focusing. It also felt quite fast and responsive.

That ISO1600 is probably quite useless with Panasonic's sensor, but have you experienced any problems with noise at lower ISO sensitivities (100-400)?

Is the Leica "42302" adapter not purpose made for this camera?

That adapter is designed for Leica scopes. I wouldn't think it would fit others.Neil

I took the Leica out to Mai Po over the last two days and tested it out on my Swarovski STS80HD scope and their 22x eyepiece as well as a Televue 32 mm Plossl that I was roadtesting. I used the Scoptronix EZ Pix 11 universal adapter as the Leica doesn't have a thread for an adapter. I found the camera quite easy to use on the scope . The lens showed a little vignetting at wide angle which disappeared about 1/3 of the way in.Focussing seemed fast and accurate. I used the Self-timer as the camera doesn't have a remote which is a real pain. It also has image stabilising which I have on all the time but I haven't tested it's effectiveness yet. The results are acceptable but I was a bit disappointed on the detail from this camera. The results on close examination seem a bit muddy. They reminded me of my original Panasonic Lumix (4 megs).
