Hi
I am extremely lucky to have had Little Owls nesting in the old Kent orchard at the back of my garden for the last 18 years, their nesting sites in the old trees have been eroded over the years as the orchard has been used as a paddock for horses who have stripped all the bark off the trees killing most of them, in fact, for two years they nested in rabbit burrows before evicting grey squirrels from the their current nesting location. The owner has been cutting the dead trees down . I have educated him into the need to maintain the old cherry tree that they have used for the last four years which I can see from my dining room wonderful!
Normally after they have fledged their brood, usually only one chick but on two occassions two chicks they have left the nesting tree and moved away but this year they have returned to the nesting hole and appear to be considering a second brood not noted in the past. Finally the question, is it feisable that they will in fact have a second brood ?
