Hello,
I was chatting to my neighbour who has seen a strange bird. He described it as like a magpie with a yellow breast. Any ideas? I suggested a Golden Oriole but after showing him photos of this species, he said it wasn't as yellow.
Cheers,
Alex P

Parakeet? Green Woodpecker?
I've shown him photos from Collins British Wildlife Guide and pics out of Mitchell Beazley book, and it didn't seem to be in those books. It was flying on scrubby hillside.

9 times out of 10- the answer to "neighbours bird" queries in the UK relate to either Jay or Green Woodpecker!

But wouldn't it be great if it was that 1 time in a million that it turned out to be something really good! :t:

thanks - Personally I think it was a Green woodpecker. This neighbour does have a reputation for erroneous sightings eg. a scarlet rosefinch near Cardiff.
