Hi all
this is my first post so I thought I may as well sing the praises of Norfolk from my trip this weekend. My main target of Lesser Grey Shrike was good (only obscured by the curvature of the Earth due to its distance). I am envious of those Norfolk residents for the sheer number of quality birds around in the summer. I managed Honey Buzzard, Hobbies, Bearded Tit, Nightjar (great views of one flying over my head), Sammy the Stilt, superb summer plumaged Spotted Redshanks and many more without that much effort. Is Norfolk the best county in Britain for resident species? I think it's hard to beat Hope someone finds this of some interest, if not then sorry for wasting your time!!!

Hi and welcome to Birdforum. I'm sure you'll find everyone friendly and there is always plenty of interest here.
Glad you found Norfolk so interesting. I do most of my birding in my home county of Kent (also very good for birding), but Norfolk is always high on my list when I am planning "away" trips.
Good birding and keep posting!

Welcome to the forum Chris - you will enjoy being here - it is a birders paradise!
I have birded in many areas of the UK and each has it's own specialities and charm, but I do think, for all year round, high quality birding variety North Norfolk is just about unbeatable.
We have now lit the blue touch paper and withdraw as the debate commences!!

Absolutely not a waste of time.
I always find it interesting to hear what visitors to our county get up to, which often seems to involve the North coast. As a solely personal preference I favour other areas of Norfolk but, whatever ..... glad you enjoyed it.
Not been up to see the Shrike myself, I think for a newcomer to all this, the rarity value is maybe lost on me.
And just to add ..... as others have already said ..... Welcome to BF. good site with lots of varied interest on here,

Yep can't argue with there Chris. Like Robinm, I'm from Kent and do most of my birding here but I love going to Norfolk for at least one days birding. The quality of birds in a comparatively small geographic area is great.
