My well-used but sound 4500's red and black rubber grip has come off. I have tried glueing it back on twice (Evo-stick and Araldite) but it doesn't work. Any ideas?

If you,ve already tried Evo-stick and Araldite and they havn't worked you,ve got a problem! You could try some super glue but be very careful you don't get it on anything else.

Try contact cement, it's kind of rubber glue that you put on both face and wait until dry (15 -20 minutes) and then put the 2 parts together. Watch out, it realy stick, so a carefull alignment is necesserary (start at one corner). But again watch to don't put everywhere, it's a mess to clean up.

CRA P CAMERA - don't bother complaining to Nikon UK HQ, as to date they have not answered any of four faxes sent over last 3 weeks.

Same thing happened to mine. I gave them a ring at HQ and they sent me a replacement (albeit the American green version) for a small charge.

Phone Nikon UK - I have always found them helpful. But, you may have a problem in that you will need to clean off the glues you have tried already.
I'd have thought cyanoacrylate glues would have worked ("super glues") as they bond rubber to metal well - but as has been suggested they need great care in use or a real mess can result.

In the end I used some double-sided sellotape which works very well. Have just been to France for two weeks and its still firm.
Thanks for the interest and tips.

I threw mine away after several attempts of repair, afterall it provides no really useful function ov er than improving the overall aesthetic appeal of the camera.
