Link to an anouncement on DP review site regarding Nikons new model, revamped D200 perhaps, interesting in the light of the just released Sony Alpha DSLR, also at 10.2Mp, perhaps Nikon are hoping to attract would be Sony buyers, however the review for the Sony Alpha in this weeks Amateur photographer is very praiseful of the camera and its low noise images, combined with on-sensor image stabilising and dust removal system, at about £800 it will keep both Nikon and Canon on their toes, so its good for all of us in the long run.

I guess it's the D80 coming to replace the D70/S.
Many features will be very similar to the D200, but in a plastic body.

Looks very interesting and I'm sure having Nikon on the front of a camera rather than Sony is a plus for many. Wonder what the time scale for it actually being available will be, given Nikon's often poor record in this respect. Sony's venture into the DSLR market should keep Canon and Nikon on their toes with regard to innovation and pricing.

This is based on the D70s with the same sensor as the D200 (and the Sony Alpha). It is unlikely to have any of the pro features of the D200 and it will be plastic, so it is aimed at the Sony.

Personally I'm very pleased with my D200. If I hadn't wanted a pro quality camera then I'd certainly have waited for the Sony. But I'd have to stick the name 'Minolta' on the front before using it :O)

If this had come out before the D200, then I would have bought one rather than the D200. But having used the D200, I am glad it didn't. There is a reason the D200 costs more.

Leif, I quite agree. I love my D70 but the D200 is a whole new experience, more like the F4 I had years ago.

I had a D70, still have a D70s, and recently bought a D200 << love this camera!! The endless want for more and better equipment will always make me nuts.

An excellent shot, Raymond.
I always say to my photographer friends that we have TWO hobbies - photography and collecting photographic equipment. There's no relationship between the two - but sometimes, one is used as an excuse for the other...
