I am writing this after receiving surprising news about a Nikon repair. We all seem to air our grievences but rarely do I see comments of good service posted here.
Last August I had a Lens Error appear while using my Nikon Coolpix 8800. The camera was also getting very hot after minimal use. I sent my 6 month old camera to Nikon and they repaired it under warranty. Side note...my first 8800 was sent back the same week I received it for smoking and sparking when using the flash.
Earlier this month my camera started having the same problems. I packed it up and sent it to Nikon with a letter describing the repair last year and a copy of the repair documentation.
The good news: I received a letter in the mail yesterday stating Nikon would warranty the repair of last year and I would have no charges for the current repair. I was getting frustrated with Nikon over this camera and I am glad to see they stand behind the work they did last year. My confidence is renewed.
