Here is an aerial photo of my 'patch'. If you look closely you can see me waving at the aircraft.

It's the Blackwater estuary in Essex quite close to Maldon. Along side it are some gravel pits.

Those who twitched the Terek last year will remember it well.

Just for the record, phyllosc, when I try to view, I get nothing...

It may be me, I'll try again tomorrow, but I thought I'd mention in case others are also struggling.

Me neither! I don't know what I've done wrong, everyone else's photos appear within their posts and all I get in a knackered link!

Can a moderator advise me on how to correct this problem?

Nice one, my daughter lives in Burnham and we often take the grandsons to Maldon, but I have never been there when there was water in the blackwater. Where the cross is, is that the little concrete walkway where the kids like to skate board? Just past the amusements? Seen quite a few sea birds and waders feeding in the mud flats.

Opened alright for me too. The problem might be because you have used a bmp format rather than a jpg one like every one else. bmp files tend to be much larger than jpg. This one is 653K whilst a jpg rendition should be around 50K.

Looks like a very nice spot, with diverse habitats.

I must do my patch soon.

I can see you waving, phyllosc, but I do think you shouldn't have dropped your trousers

Here it is re-saved as a jpg, for those that can't open the bump

(Thanks very much Michael, it wouldn't open on my computer either.) Very helpful shot, phyllosc, and an interesting area-- can you give me an idea of the scale? And that big grey-brown area on the north (?) bank-- is that gravel pit or back water?

An interesting view, that built up area on the left - Maldon ?
