Hi All

Well, this last week of sept.has finally seen some some sort of decent migration of passerines. In all we have ringed:

69 WILLOW WARBLERS
3 IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFFS
7 CHIFFCHAFFS
1 BONELLIS WARBLER
71 NORTHERN BLACKCAPS
9 COMMON REDSTART
7 WHITETHROAT
62 PIED FLYCATCHER
3 SPOTTED FLYCATCHER
33 GARDEN WARBLER
1 WHINCHAT
2 REED WARBLER
4 SUBALPINE WARBLER
1 SPECTACLED WARBLER
1 NIGHTINGALE
2 ORPHEAN WARBLERS

On the non-passerine front we have ringed

1 RED NECKED NIGHTJAR
2 SCOPS OWLS
1 WRYNECK

Today the weather has really cracked with a broad front moving through with heavy rain and driving Levanter wind.

The next couple of days ringing could be very interesting when the front has passed through.

If the forecast is correct it will be wet suit and flippers on tomorrow!!!

Cheers for now

Hola Ricardo

Looks like you're enjoying yourself over there with such an impressive list!
Glad to see it's raining on you ;)
I remember you said that bad weather forces the migrants down so things should get even more interesting for you over the next few days.

Hi Pajerero

Well, the rain did not last for long, and had a lot overnight, yesterday it was back to sunglasses again!!

Got a early start at 1 of my river sites, nets up before first light, just as well as a strong levanter was blowing by 11am,but some nets could keep open as well sheltered, and got another good mix of birds.

Set a short 30' net up in a well sheltered spot and caught a dozen goldies in it first net round,so that kept me well busy processing them.

They undergo all sorts of weird and wonderful moult, compared with UK birds.

Plenty of migrants passing through still.

Have posted some more details on forum

Cheers for now

Ricardo
