My wife and I are visiting Northumberland in the first week in September. I know the Farne Islands get crowded with sea birds in the breeding season, but how many and what species are likely to still be around for our visit. We hope to visit Holy Island and do a bit of watching along the coast of the mainland as well. Any clues as to what we are likely to find, or what to look out for, will be gratefully received.

Thanks in anticipation,

Richard.

By September Holy Island should have some migrant passerines, maybe a bit early for the better eastern stuff but Wryneck perhaps? There are one or two books on Birds of Lindisfarne which might be helpful, I bought one of them when I was there a few years back.
