Could anyone tell me where to go birding around Lytham St Annes and whether there are any camp sites local.

From what I can remember the actual front at Lytham is pretty good use the Windmill as a landmark there's loads of tidal saltmarsh for waders so you have to be dependent on the tides to push any birds closer to you I think now the whole area has been designated a nature reserve.Fairhaven lake down at St Annes can turn some pretty good stuff up too. The front at Blackpool can also be good especially in N/W gales with good views of Storm and Leach's Petrels. However these are only sketchy details I am sure somebody local will be able to give you a far more detailed picture

Iain,
Fairhaven and Starr Gate as suggested, Lytham St Annes nature reserve probably worth a brief look also.
Personally I would prefer westerlies or south westerlies for Leach's. North westerlies are better for the Mersey.
If you PM me with what you are hoping to see I could be more specific, it might be a few days before I can reply though.
Stephen.

Actually I have just bought a tent on ebay and I have to go to Lytham St Annes to pick it up tomorrow so I won't be there very long as we have now decided to drive back down the same day. However I will certainly check out the local sea front and reserve, thanks for yor help
