Much as I like my Kowa, for an upgrade the Swaro would do me nicely along with the 20-60 zoom.

I think the question determines the answer. The best scope for £1500 is the Swarovski. If you had asked about the best for £1200 we would mostly have said the Zeiss. Reduce the price to £1000 and we would all mostly say the Leica. As for myself, well I will probably go for the Leica in the future since I can't see the others being that much better. I have heard the Swarovski is only slightly better than the Zeiss, and presumably the Leica.

In the real world price does play a role.

I would buy the pentax 80ed again and put the extra $1300 towards a suzuki gxsr750 or maybe a yamaha r6.:t: , or maybe even a birding trip overseas.

At present i would go for a Kowa as ive seen the Zeiss very disappointing scope, im tempted by the Swarro but it is very expensive but i hope to go to the Birdfair and do a good side by side check.
