I photographed this Whooping Crane in the Sandhill State Wildlife Area in Wisconsin in the USA. As you can tell by the name of the wildlife refuge it is good habitat for cranes. They are part of a reintroductory project in Wisconsin in which they used ultra light aircraft to lead the birds on their first
migration.

Nice photo. The Whooping Crane Reintroduction program is quite interesting. I saw that this was the first year that 2 young Whoopers hatched in Wisconsin in the last 100 years.
