I am thinking of buying this lens when its releaesd in october as I have no current lenses with the vibration reduction system.
Having never used one of these type of lenses I was wondering if the VR still works when you use a 1.4 converter, as on some of my lenses the AF doesn't work when I use a converter.

VR is fine with most teleconverters. Good luck in getting your 70-300 VR, a Nikon release in October could mean a wait til the new year :eek!: , just look at the 18-200 VR delays.
cheers,

Blimey ! why the delay , I've already ordered a D80 from warehouse express and been told I should receive it in the next couple of days.Does this mean I may have to wait until next year for this too. But at least the VR will work with the converter.

I've already ordered this lens locally for evaluation, testing and if it's good as the MTF tables show - for purchasing.
Delivery is supposed to be next month. They will probably get only a couple of those. It should work with a X1.4TC but I guess not with Nikon's TC-14E but with a third party TC, like the 18-200 AFS does.
When I'll have it, I'll run a full test on it and publish the results in my website.

I have ordered mine last month and still waiting.
I think we need to use the Nikon's TC-14E11 in order for the VR to work.
