I'm probably going to order the Pentax 100mm scope tomorrow. What eye piece or pieces do you think I should get? The primary use will be digiscoping.
Am I making a mistake getting this scope since there doesn't seem to be any reviews available yet?
Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan

From memory I think the Pentax scope uses large chunky eyepieces,I don`t know if anyone manufactures an adapter to fit these eyepieces.Maybe someone else on the forum can help.

Regards Stevo.

Worth bringing this to the top of the pile Stevo. I saw this last night and saw paulyoly online so thought maybe he'd spot this post. He uses a pentax XL28 eyepiece in his PF80ED, I believe, with a homemade adaptor. This eyepiece would give 22.5x magnification in the PF100ED (18x in PF80ED).

You can also get eyepieces which screw directly into the Nikon 28mm filter thread :

What do you folks think of the minimum focusing distance of 28 feet? Too far?

I'd be a little concerned about that, Freddie. I have not found the 5m minimum of my Swarovski a problem, but at about 9m that's almost double, and I've used my scope at that sort of distance reasonably frequently. I wouldn't cross it off your list, but it's something to think about.

BTW and off-topic, I was amused at myself just now. I had to do sums in my head to convert your feet into metres before I could visualise how far 28 feet is. But the funny thing is that I grew up using feet, back before the country went metric!

President Carter tried to convert us to the metric system back in the 70's, didn't work.
I've put off the order until I can get some more feedback on this scope. I still will probably get it since I will use it for more than digiscoping birds. If it doesn't work out I can liquidate it on Ebay.
