Dear All,
I recently recieved an e-mail off a friend working in a conservation organisation who is looking to purchase several pairs of binoculars for local guides in Southeast Asia, they will be in Kuala Lumpur later this month.
Can any of our Malaysian residents help me in recommending any optic shops in the city. The optics they would be looking to purchase would be under the $150 mark. Any phone numbers or web addresses would be great.
Many thanks,
James

Hi James,
One place I've visited which seems to be better than average is: Infinity Infocus, Kedai Cenderamata, Planetarium Negara, 53 Jalan Perdana, KL. They have an email address: infocus@pcjaring.my. The website http://www.infinityinfocus.com/ gives a different address to the one above, so it may be worth contacting them in advance to save a wasted trip.
I went there a couple of years ago, right on the site of the National Planetarium so easy to find. They're mostly geared for astronomy but do some bins that are quite reasonably priced and seemed good for birding. Not well-known brands though.
Hope this helps,
Dave

Hi Dave,
Many thanks for that. Struggling to find somewhere that does this! Will e-mail MNS, sure they have an idea, unless they buy all their gear from Singapore.
Cheers.

James best of luck and hope you can get what you want-i have been trying to see some optics in K.L. -difficult to find and some super markets do have bins but to test you must buy-for testing needs out-door testing at least which you cant do without buying.Regards.-May be because i go there only on Sundays and most of the shops close that day-if you find any let me know too.

Oh, Crab Plovers. I was going to send a message and ask what are those two white birds I saw on the cover of that magazine at that Oriental Bird Club web site.
