A new media storage device from Canon, 30 and 80 gig flavour soon available.
Now this looks like a fine piece of kit, specially designed for lightening the wallet.

Looks nice, but will probably cost a mint.

Looks like a very good device. But Nigel, I think you must go for the M80. 30 G isn't much for your 16.7 MP full frame. (may be even better, a M300).

Will probably be cheaper to buy a laptop which would have a bigger viewing area and more storage space!.

Indeed Roy, I prefer to use a laptop when travelling, as well as biger screen etc, I can burn images to DVD and keep them in a separate place or mail them home, to reduce the risk of losing the work in the event of the laptop being stolen.

Spotted it here: http://www.ephotozine.com/news/fullnews.cfm?NewsID=3356 a few days ago - again with no indication of what the price might be, though the bit about 'many Canon professionals' asking for it will probably put it into the higher price-bracket for such devices.
At some stage, someone is going to bring out one where the screen can be viewed in all lighting conditions, including bright sun, at which stage the 6"x4" flip-over photo album will be effectively dead - by using, say, half of the M80's storage for backing-up in the field, it still leaves 40Gb of space for an awful lot of 640x480 images to show around instead of carrying all of your albums

That's a nice bit of kit! Be interesting to see how much it costs. I use my laptop though at the moment. It's pretty small so can fit in my bag easily enough.

What worries me is the size of it. If it's using a BP-511 battery then it's gonna have to be pretty chucky. It also sounds as if the CF-PSD transfer speed isn't going to be too great.
I can't see it challenging the likes of the Giga Vu Pro Evolution or the, newly announced, Epson P5000.

Dimensions 140 x 81 x 34 mm (5.5 x 3.2 x 1.3 in) and 12.7 ounces, so its about the same as P5000, the Canon transfer speeds are CF to HDD: 4.1 MB/sec, SD to HDD: 3.8 MB/sec, HDD to PC: 7.5 MB/sec
