hello all,

has anyone tried the Ares BB+ in the field and would care to comment? what is the general consensus regarding this machine? i read richard beard's review of the Ares-PII on the 'wildlife sound recording society' website. however, i have yet to find a review of the Ares BB+. the naturerecordists.com website did not yield much information either.

the PII+ and the BB+ have the exact same specs. except for the following:
*mic imputs:
PII+: 12 pole DIN connector
BB+: 3 pole XLR connectors
*dimesions:
PII+: 188 x 80 x 28 mm/
BB+: 188 x 170 x 57 mm
*weight:
PII+: 450 g
BB+: 900 g

nagra's website:

thank you,
sergio.

Haven't used it personally, but just chatted with one of the guys in the WSRS who used the BB (predecessor) on a recording tour for a few weeks in Australia. He said it was fantastic. It held up to being bumped around in the back of a Lada Riva on their tour, and you could get 10hrs recording out of a set of 6AA alkaline cells. Preamps were lovely and quiet, and the connectors were standard which was a plus in his book.

Sounds like you won't be disappointed! Just wish I could afford one ;)
