I have a Canon 30D and a 60mm Macro lens, and ALL my picture seen to be over exposed. This is not just the close up pictures of butterflies and bugs (the reason why I brought the whole setup in the first place), but even images I took of my son playing rugby at the weekend?

I have now started to stop the camera down to get the correct exposure – but I find it hard to believe that I should be doing this with every picture I take? The question is, do you think it’s the lens? Or, is it the Camera metering? Or, should I take it back to the shop, and get it checked over?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome?

Thanks

Andrew

Normally, if a lens is overexposing all shots, I would suspect that the aperture blades are stuck open, but in your case, it looks like you can manually stop down the lens, so it is probably a problem with the electrical interface between the lens and the camera. I would take it back to the shop to have it checked.
