Hi, I am interested in buying an 8x30, to supplement my larger binos. I am considering the Zeiss Conquest 8x30, but recently I also saw a Swarovski SLC (old version, but new old stock). I am not ready to spend the sum necessary for an SLCnew, but was wondering if the SLC is significantly better than the Conquest. Thanks!

If the SLCold has Swarobright coatings (stated on the box) it's the same as the SLCnew for all practical purposes. I haven't found a difference between the two, and Swaro hasn't advertised one. In my opinion the SLC is significantly better than a Conquest, — even the non-Swarobright model that I own.

Check out my thread "Comparison of 8x32 Victory and 8x30 Conquest" in the Zeiss forum for my personal impressions.
