I will be in the hull area tomorrow (1st August) and plan to visit Spurn.
Any advice or suggestions to help enhance the trip please.
Gordon.

Yeah
Go see the Gt. spotted cuckoo you lucky person.
Seriously good site and compact enough to take your time and enjoy.

The Great Spotted Cuckoo is still at Spurn Point today - there'll be a big crowd of birders looking for it tomorrow, so follow the crowd to see it.
Check the tide times for best views of waders moving up the beach (best a couple of hours before high tide).
Pray for east winds! (not in the forecast, though).

Dear Michel and James,
Thank you. I have looked at tides (oh dear, will have to stay the night) studied the weather made the sarnies now hoping the impetigo bird will be in residence.
I have always followed the crowd.

Make sure you check the bushes around the pub - a great excuse for a pint, and don't forget Beacon Lane ponds. I see that the Little Gulls are moving through at the moment 3000+ there on 27th July

Impetigo bird . . . oh dear!!
Just hope no-one describes it as being in immaculate condition.
Good luck!

Dear Michele and James,
Back home.
What a super trip.
Friday all day at Spurn no Spotted Cuckoo but much to see. Had evening dinner at the car park on the point and watched a staggering sunset up the Humber. The fly past of Terns were blushed.
Saturday all day at Blacktoft, then round to Faxfleet where I camped.
Sunday shared the sunrise with hunting barn owls on the embankment near the exit of Market Weighton canal. A look at the promising new site at N Cave,
called to see a rich friend before rounding the day off at Nosterfield.
Has Nosterfield the ultimate hide?
Gordon.
I got that immaculate remark - I think

Well done
Sorry you missed the cuckoo but sounds like you had a great time anyway. Birding simply wouldn't be the same if we got everything and it was that predictable.

Sounds like you had a good round trip. Nosterfield certainly has a superb hide, but it's a shame the birding can be hit and miss at this time of the year.
