Hi,
I would need some help to establish the current status of this poorly known parrot. I know it was splited from Pyrrhura picta relatively recently.
Its apparently endemic to the Sinú River Valley in NW Colombia where its threatend by cattle grazzing and generally habitat destruction. It has been described as extremely poorly known by most sources and that there havent been any records in the last 80 years or so.
I read in the newly published book, Parrots of the world, An identification guide that it has been reported from Parque Nacional Natural Paramillo. A few sources suggest that Pyrrhura picta pantchenkoi is a synonym of Pyrrhura subandina and that the look very similar.
However, I would need some useable advice from somone which is more familiar with this bird, have more sources at hand, know if there really has been any reports of this bird in the last decades and if this species still survive in its small range or has already become extinct
Thanks in advance
