I have been asked by a friend, who is rather short of cash, to photograph his wedding this Friday at our local registry office. Having had no experience of this type of photogrpahy (I usually shoot landscapes) I am a little worried at messing things up. I have a 300d which has a 28-85mm EF lens which should be fine, my main worry is shooting with flash or rather lack of it. I will be relying on the 300ds built in flash (never bought a flash as I have no use for it) and shooting in RAW. Should I try and construct some sort of diffuser to put over the inbuilt flash? What sort of aperture? I thought around f8 should be okay. I have options with the flash and can use it up to 200th of second but what would be the best shutter speed between 60 & 200th. Any tricks for photographing weddings when raining will also be gratefully received.

Hi Iain, I'm afraid even the photography section at birdforum has to stay roughly on-topic. If you follow the link that Christine has provided, you'll end up at the right place. Just register at our sister site WPF and ask away... I know we have some pro wedding photographers on there.

cheers,
Andy

Thanks Christine, looks like I have let myself in for more than I thought <cringe>. Oh well I am only charging him £25 so I think he should be happy enough.
