Hi all,
I wasn't sure where to put this question. I'm new to birding and would like to get a better pair of binoculars. The ones I have now are 8 x 21 and they just don't focus very well. I don't need anything really fancy, just good enough for the back yard and to take on trips. Thanks for any help!!

There are LOTS of choices, and the best ones cost LOTS of money, psycho (you really want to be called that?!)-- first thing to do is take a trip to your local camera or optics store and look through what they've got in stock.

Birders are usually pretty sharing with their own binos, too. Go birding with a group and ask other if you may try out their optics.

In a store, be sure you ask to take the binos outside and look through them there. How many times are you going to use your binos INSIDE somewhere?

I just recommended this site on another bino thread, but will list it again:

Very objective reviews of binos in all price ranges, and very good buys are highlighted.

Always purchase the best optics you can afford -- you will never regret it. You DO get what you pay for!
