Hi
Now our great British weather is upon us I have started thinking about if the 30D can stand any sort of moisture. I know that the pro models have some sort of weather resistance and after looking at my kit (30D + 400 5.6L) can't see any sort of gaskets, O-ring etc. I know you get what you pay for, but would be interested if anyone has experience of using this type of kit in light rain etc.
Thanks
Rhod

I normally carry a pocket full of small bin liners for my 30D. Weather protection was one of the reasons I recently opted for the 70-200,f2.8 & 2*TC as oppossed to the 100-400, the TC and the lens both have seals to protect against sand and rain damage. The assistant at York cameras pointed out that the pro Canon bodies use buttons not rotating dials as they are easier to protect, not that I have ever used one.
I have used my 400*5.6 in light showers with a bag over the camera and lens where it fits to the body but prefer not to.

I have used both my 5D and 30D in situations where they were rained on briefly; enough to get them spotted with rain repeatedly for maybe an hour or so, but not continuously rained on.
I've had no problems so far, and I'm sure if they aren't drenched they should be fine. Just wipe them off and dry them out well when you get home, and don't leave any moisture on too long.
I also keep some packets of Zorb-it (www.zorb-it.com) in my camera bag at all times.

LOL Steve you are too kind.
Serioulsy though someone did tell me that although i managed to dry my camera out and get it working it was inevitable that not all moisture would go and that my camera may corrode inside much faster than any other camera.
To that end everyone should take all precautions they can to keep all moisture and rain off their cameras and I even at the slightest hint of drizzle cover my camera with my coat or pack it away in my bag.
