Hi All

Well ,yesterday was real scorcher, must have been around 80 degrees!!

The forecast had been decidedly iffy,so did not bother to get up 3 hrs.before first light as per usual!!! Had a lie in till 07.30hrs.,what it is to be retired!!!!! :-)

Anyway,it was a cracking day with no wind to speak off.but did not get the nets set up till mid-day!!

Only needed 2 x 40' and 1 x 30' nets at my inland river site, more than enough birds to keep me out of mischief till 19.00 hrs.

Finch migration well under way now as you will see by the numbers.

2 SERINS
12 GREENFINCH ( suspended moult in sev.of the juvs)
4 SARDINIAN WARBLERS
7 BLACKCAPS ( 3 LOCAL BIRDS)
2 CHIFFCHAFFS
12 GOLDFINCH ( lots of suspended moult in the Juvs-really fascinating)
1 GREAT TIT
2 KINGFISHERS
1 ROBIN
1 CETTIS WARBLER
2 REED WARBLERS
1 CIRL BUNTING
3 BLACKBIRDS
1 COMMON REDSTART

5 RETRAPS INCL.2 KINGFISHERS

1 of the kingfishers i ringed at this site in May 2000 and trapped it in the same net!!

Did not feel too bad staying in today to put all results in my computer as weather had taken an about turn, the odd thunderstorm and some heavy rain.

Cheers for now

Ricardo
