bring an image up on your lcd them press the info button and it will tell you the photo is one of so many eg 1/10 obviously the second number is the number of frames taken.

Do you mean frames shot on a CF card or frames shot on the camera?
If you have taken 40 pics on a CF card and you look at the first one, the LCD viewer will say 1/40. Once you download from the card and delete what is on it, the count will start again from one.
If you mean shots taken on the camera, when you view the shot on the LCD viewer, there will be a number in the top right corner...mine currently shows 104-0467. The second number is the number of frames shot on the camera,ie, 467 BUT this can be reset. I reset it when I got the camera...it was reading around 1050 so my camera has therefore taken about 1500 frames.
Hope this helps

I'm fairly sure that there is no way to be sure how many shots a 300D has taken... given that it's a fairly old model I'd assume that most will have taken a lot of shots.

Postcardcv is correct...I assume that mine has taken about 1500 frames but of course it may have been reset before the 1050.
I bought the camera on ebay for a good price and it performs perfectly so I a happy....I guess you will have to consider all the options and reach a decision as to whether or not to buy.
