EOS 30D power on/off

Just bougth the 30d a week ago. Haven't been able to try it out properly but have noticed, that the camera doesn't switch off when trying to use the on/off switch.
It still switches into powersave mode after one minute as that's what I've set it to but the actual on/off switch won't do the job.
Has anyone had the same problem ?

This seems to be a problem with a small few 30D bodies, try popping the battery out and re-inserting it, this will effectively re-boot the camera.
Are you using the battery grip with two batteries?
Also there is a firmware update for the 30D that corrects a couple of small software glitches too, it can be found here....
